Bath Science Cafe: Talk on why trams are in general, and specifically for Bath, the way forward for transport

Mon 13 Apr 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Prof Lewis Lesley, Technical Director of Trampower Ltd, an expert on transport in general, will explain why trams are so much better for cities than cars and buses.

In a nutshell, people like using them so they will forgo their cars, they are cheaper than buses, they put up property value which more or less pays for them, you can run them on renewably electricity, you can cycle no handed between the tram tracks, they do not generate city centre pollution, cars get out of the way, so they are not slowed up by traffic, etc etc, and of course Bath used to have trams until the moron took them out in 1938 so that we could all sit in traffic jams. (That’s why the continentals have them to glide about in whilst we suffer in traffic jams).
