Gleaned harvest supper and film
Fri 6 Nov 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Event Navigation
Transition Bath food group is organising this event with the aim of ‘garnering’ interest in collecting food that it is not economical to harvest. We’ll be serving you a meal made from unwanted pumpkins and squash (a savoury dish), with apple puddings. BYO drinks, glasses provided. Our thanks to our Bath Area Grower colleagues, the Community Farm and Orchardshare, for their help in sourcing the food.
The meal will be followed by a screening of Agnes Varda’s film, The Gleaners and I, a documentary* which celebrates the tradition of garnering, but also emphasises that food poverty forces some people to rely on it and its modern form, skip-diving. We’re organising this in collaboration with other members of Bath Area Growers, a network of community groups growing fruit and vegetables around Bath. (* in French, with English subtitles)
We’re asking for a donation of £5 per person, to cover our costs – any surplus will be distributed to local charities which collect unwanted produce and distribute it to vulnerable groups (Fareshare South West and Bath FoodCycle)
