Orchardshare’s Apple Day
Sun 16 Oct 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Apple Day, in the third week of October (notionally 21st), is a “custom” established by Common Ground in 1990, to celebrate the variety of apples grown in the UK and mark both the season and the role which orchards have played in the landscape. In Georgian Bath, a number of the terraces shared a communal orchard – most of these are lost, but one survives in Widcombe.
Orchardshare, the community group which used to manage Broadlands orchard on the Box Road, now manage the fruit trees at Dry Arch Growers plus two private orchards. You are invited to help Orchardshare celebrate Apple Day on 16th October. Come along at 2pm, look round the orchard, help juice some apples, enjoy tea and cake, and pizza from the earth oven. There’ll be apple games for youngsters and plenty of space to run around. Dry Arch is in Holcombe Lane, Bathampton, 75m beyond the parade of shops (no parking on site apart from Blue Badge holders).
