University of Bath: Is there a brighter future for sustainable Solar Energy?

In her talk Professor Walker will explore how recent developments in solar cell technologies will contribute towards making solar power a more viable technology worldwide – encouraging the use of renewable energy and mitigating against the effects of climate change.

Professor Alison Walker
Professor Alison Walker attended the University of Oxford and obtained an MA and then a DPhil before moving to Michigan State University in the USA to take up a Research Associate position.
She then returned to the UK to work as Senior Research Associate at the Daresbury Laboratory. She was given a ‘New Blood’ lectureship in 1984 at the University of East Anglia and moved to the University of Bath in 1998 where she was appointed Professor of Physics in 2008.
Alison’s field of research is computational condensed matter physics and her current research areas are modelling plastic electronic devices and novel solar cells.
