Garden Share Project

Desperate to get planting and growing but have no land? Outgrown the window box? Bath Area Garden Share matches homeowners with too much garden with keen veg gardeners who can’t get an allotment.

This doesn’t have to be a big plot – a small plot, the size of a door, is adequate for many people.

Owners: you get up to a quarter of the produce, plus a tidier, more appealing garden.
Gardeners: you get a chance to grow food straight away.

Gardeners and owners are matched after interviews, and these take into account the proximity and preferences of both sides before partners are introduced.

Our co-coordinators interview both sides, visit the gardens, and organise matches. Through the co-coordinators either side can veto a proposed match without embarrassment.

This service is free for land owners. Gardeners pay £5 plus £2 a year for insurance.

BAGS is based on a scheme which has worked successfully in Totnes, Devon since 2007.
