SUMMARY:Biophilic Bath - The Green City You See
DESCRIPTION:A new exhibition at the Museum of Bath Architecture presents creative visions for engaging with nature in urban areas. Biophilic Bath – The Green City You See\, from 10 July – September\, will feature designs by innovative architects\, engineers\, and designers\, which show future ‘biophilic’ visions of the city. Exhibition entrance is included in the cost of Museum entry. \nBiophilic design is defined as “design which focuses on those aspects of the natural world that have contributed to human health and productivity in the age-old struggle to be fit and survive”. The exhibition will present a variety of radical ideas that intrigue\, delight and energize\, and inspire the future sustainability and climate resilience of the city. \nAlex Sherman\, CEO of BPT\, says: “From 2024 developers in the UK will be required to increase the biodiversity of their sites by 10% under the new biodiversity net gain legislation\, so city greening and sustainability are priorities now – not just in the future. \nJoanna Robinson\, Sustainability and Design Manager at BPT says: “Each of these imaginative site-specific biophilic design responses includes direct or indirect experiences of nature\, incorporates low carbon materials and urban greening and nurtures the love of Bath and its unique landscape setting. We hope that this new exhibition will get people thinking and talking about a new consciousness towards restorative\, habitat-friendly urban design for people and nature.” \nImage: Biophilic Bath submission from Eliza Gray Gardens \nThe Museum of Bath Architecture\, The Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel\, The Vineyards\, Bath. Open from Wednesday to Saturday\, 10am-4pm\, every week.

SUMMARY:Bath BID Treescape Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Bath Business Improvement District (BID) has kindly given Transition Bath a spot on Milsom Street to tout our Bath-saving projects. Come and say hi! \nAs well as talking about what we’re already doing and how you might contribute to the good work\, we will be: \n\ntalking about our beloved Smallcombe Nuttery and our plans for increasing it’s biodiversity (as well as yummy fruits and nuts)\,\nwe will have an interactive session on how to easily eliminate some of the most common plastics from your homes\,\nthe static electric bike will be making an appearance\, so you can have a go and see how easy it would be to scoot to work on one instead of in a smelly car. All the cool kids are doing it.\n\nWe will be on Milsom street from 11am\, just look out for the marquee! \n

SUMMARY:Nut Harvest at the Smallcombe Nuttery
DESCRIPTION:Join our Trustees Lyn and Alexander as we scour the Smallcombe Nuttery for nuts. By the calendar\, the cobnuts and walnuts should be in season\, as well as the glorious mulberries. Not nuts at all\, but still important! Signing up is appreciated for our records\, then turn up with fingers to pluck and eyes to search. \nWe’re on a mission to improve biodiversity at the Nuttery\, so we’ll also be making our first ‘wildflower scrapes’. Lend a hand with that\, and also spend a quiet 10 minutes monitoring a small patch of grass to see what you can spot\, either buzzing over or scuttling on the ground. We’ll be guided by some excellent resources designed by Marian Hill (Buzz & Scuttle). \nNOTE: as is the nature of nature\, there may not be any harvestable nuts on the evening\, though we have been checking and there were definitely plenty near harvest recently. If no nuts are available then this event serves as an object lesson in squirrels and humility. \nGet your tickets

SUMMARY:Green Screen: X Trillion plus panel
DESCRIPTION:Green Screen: X Trillion follows the gruelling journey of eXXpedition’s all-women crew led by Emily Penn as they sail 3\,000 miles across the North Pacific Ocean through the densest accumulation of ocean plastic on the planet to make the unseen\, seen. \nThe 14-strong international crew of scientists\, sailors\, designers\, engineers\, and teachers set sail on a transformative month-long voyage. They leave families and land behind\, coming together battling high seas\, storms and sea sickness\, to carry out cutting edge microplastics research and investigate the crisis of plastic pollution in one of the most remote places on Earth. \nIn a practical and emotional response to one of the biggest global challenges of our time\, this is a story of hope\, filled with life\, magic and a call to action that burns with optimism. Directed by Eleanor Church. \nGreen Screen: X Trillion\, 3pm\, Little Theatre Cinema\, St Michael’s Place\, Bath
