For those not already aware of the scheme, B&NES council have been offering generous top up grants for a wide range of retrofit work on homes to make them more energy efficient and comfortable to live in. The current scheme is coming to an end, so if you are in the process of applying you have until 30th April to complete your application.
For those new to the scheme, a second phase is about to start now that B&NES have appointed their Energy at Home delivery partner, Eco Residential. The grant will be worked out in the same way – you either use Green Deal finance or pay the equivalent amount yourself, and the grant pays towards the remaining costs up to a set limit – in phase two this is up to £6,000 for solid wall insulation and up to £2,000 for other measures mentioned in the Green Deal Advice Report. The grant limits are lower but they are still generous and the new process should be much simpler to complete. more information is available on the council’s Energy at Home website here.
