Home News & Events Latest News Batheaston Old Mill Hotel: BWCE waterwheel construction has started

Work has started at last installed a water wheel at Batheaston Old Mill Hotel which will generate lots of green clean electricity. The water wheel will generate enough electricity for 25 homes. It was the first project which was considered by BWCE when it was formed (from Transition Bath) back in 2010 – many projects later, and it is finally coming to fruition.

The electrified wheel will replace the existing wheel currently doesn’t generate electricity as it was installed some years ago as an aesthetic enhancement to the Old Mill Hotel.

Batheaston School Waterwheel

It is however not the first water wheel in Batheaston, the primary schools has one of its very own, albeit somewhat smaller!

More information on the history of the mill site which goes back to the 1500’s is available here in a previous Transition Bath article. BWCE’s announcement is here.
