Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE) are raising money to purchase a solar PV farm near Crewkerne, Its offering both bonds (5%/5.5%) and shares (7%) to raise the £2.63million to help purchase the farm. The remaining balance of £3.33million will be raised through a commercial loan.
BWCE will be purchasing half of the 10.8 MW farm which will be able to supply clean green electricity for 3,300 homes. The installation of the panels has been designed so sheep will be able to continue to graze the grass under the panels.
BWCE hope to fund local community projects through grants (£25K annually) with any excess profit from this solar farm.
