Bath FoodCycle is looking for more volunteer cooks, drivers and fundraisers to help with its excellent free meal service, using surplus food.

FoodCycle tackles food poverty, food waste and social isolation across the UK. It does this by running volunteer-powered projects producing tasty, nutritious meals within local communities. Since its start in May 2009, its volunteers have served over 125,000 meals using 146,000kg of otherwise wasted food.

Bath FoodCycle is located behind St Mary’s Catholic Church, Julian Road, Bath, BA1 2SF, serving supper each Wednesday at 7.30pm. They are pleased to welcome new customers to its wheelchair friendly diner!

Here’s what they say: “It’s nice to come somewhere where you can calm yourself and bring your children to have a nice meal.”

Not only new customers but also new staff are wanted to join a cheerful, welcoming team of all ages. Bath FoodCycle are looking for Hub Leaders. One to act as a Volunteer Co-ordinator and a second to undertake PR, Marketing and Communications responsibilities.

Volunteering up to eight hours a week Hub Leaders are involved in cooking sessions, meetings, fundraising, and promotion of the Hub. And they normally take on the role for a minimum of a year to ensure stability of the Hub.
