Co-living homes consultation

B&NES Council has launched a consultation on co-living spaces – new build accommodation with shared communal facilities. We generally support this as it provides high density relatively low-cost rental accommodation which is in demand and reduces the need to HMOs in existing homes in B&NES.

However, the recent Pines Way (old Homebase) planning application which include a proposal for 275 new homes and 180 shared living spaces currently provides no commitment to affordable homes, something we have queried. Developments without affordable homes will only mean an even higher housing target above the 29,000 in the new target.
