Ride to Work by Bike

Home Projects Ride to Work by Bike

The current focus of Transition Bath’s transport efforts is on promoting the use of e-bikes for commuting in and around Bath.

We want to encourage Bath commuters to switch to cycling to work instead of commuting by car. To support this, we started the Ride to Work by Bike project in 2019. The project involves the free loaning of electric bicycles (e-bikes) to local small-to-medium sized employers. Employees that usually drive to work can then borrow the e-bikes for a period of 6 weeks. Free comprehensive support will be provided.

We are looking for employers to join this free scheme. If your organisation would like to be involved, or if you are an employee who would like to take part, please email ridetowork.bike to register your interest, or fill in our contact form.

We have run the project successfully for four years and feedback has been positive, with numerous benefits reported by employees:

  • Improved health and wellbeing, including more stamina
  • Improved sleep and concentration
  • Reduced emissions and pollution
  • Free transportation
  • Faster journeys and no car parking

The trial really showed me how beneficial an electric bike could be in replacing my car as a mode of transport to work. I was surprised how easy it was to use and the assistance it gave me on the hills of Bath was a real help.
